It's not your car until you sign the papers, and it shouldn't be your car until it meets your satisfaction. I doubt requiring that it be perfect at delivery won't be a problem...if it is, I'd have to reconsider giving them my business.

My experience - delivery damage will happen to a certain percentage of all cars. The dealer should take photos, repair the damage, and inform the customer when the car is purchased. This was how it was done for me years ago. This type of damage doesn't make it a "used car". Try as businesses will to eliminate this kind of stuff, its not possible to eliminate every danger during delivery. Accidents will happen, a stray rock, a wind blown stick, etc. I'm sorry it happened to your car. I think once it is repaired you'll forget about it and be happy with your fortwo.

I agree with you, but it is all about how the car is repaired. Since the color is impregnated in the fenders and all other body panels, and since this car is designed to have cheap, quick to replace body panels, I see no reason they should not just snap a new fender onto the car. That way it will match the others and most importantly, it will age just like the others. I don't want to have 1 fender with a different shade of yellow after 4 years in the sun of Arizona.

As posted elsewhere in another thread, "hold their feet to the fire."

There is a regional manager for each of these dealers; if you don't get satisfaction, bump it up to him or her.
