Scan Gauge II set-up for smart car...

Purchased the Scan Gauge II for use in both the wifes' smart and my Honda Ridgeline. Finally figured out the set-up process to get accurate readings when in my truck but haven't got the process down quite yet for the smart. I do reset it to "Default" first, them engine size..1 liter, fuel used..gasoline, fuel tank size..8 gallons. Even got the backlight to match the dashboard. My problem is that when in the gauge mode and monitoring MPG, it reads ridiculously low. Anyone able to help me set-up the unit to read acceptacle mileage (I do know I'm in the 37 to 41 mile per gallon range)? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Nicholas,
What kind of display are you using, the one with the four different readouts?
For the mpg i'm using the trip window it gives me a more accurate readout imo,

Scanguage sources

I went back and forth with Joey at their tech support. Mine was often way off, from -28% to +78% at fillup. I tried all their suggestions and never got a satisfactory result. It still works well as a relative guide for what's more fuel efficent and what's not, but I never got absolute numbers that consistently made sense.
Here are some threads on the subject:

Hope it helps

Default engine capacity being retained in memory?

I believe your problem is related to the default engine size being retained in memory, instead of what you entered.

I had trouble getting mine to reset after moving from one car to another. I had to unplug it and reset it two or three times before it worked.

After running the first tank through, there is a procedure for adjusting to the true amount of fuel used and it has been very accurate since.

If you need that procedure, PM me and I will run through it for you.
