scratch

I currently dwell in Arizona. Smart car is yet unfamiliar to uncivilized arizona cowboy. although GM, Crysler which manufacturing musclar, less efficient cars proceed toward bankrupt, Reckless arizonian only prefer these models unlike they are unpopular in other states.

Anyway, stupid people seemed to appreciate my smart car, and to scratch on smart surface with sharp thing. My poor smart crys peeling off tiny portion on hatch. Do you have any suggestion to make up for peel at the cheap price? I convince you that pucking Arizona is inhospitable environment to smart. Mine is silver coloured!

Sounds like local people are scratching the hatch area?

Right! Someone(very aptly Kids) damaged my hatch with it surface sharply scratched less 1 inch long. I attempt to find the best way to make up the scratch.

Give me a tip!

Plus, if you drive smartcar in AZ, here people don't realise the recent trend of car becomes smartcar. They just giggle and treat smartcar as strange one.

The answer probably depends on how deep the scratch is. If it's a surface scratch, you can probably polish it off with an appropriate car care product. If it's a deep scratch, more drastic work may be needed.

You could try a nicely trimmed piece of black contact paper on the hatch lip above the handle? Or, if you're into chrome, several of the vendors listed on the left side of this forum's webpage can provide you with a chrome trim piece for the hatch lip (assuming the scratch is on the lip area).

touch up paint, which comes with clear coat, is also available from dealers. I've used it, it has a little brush to simply application. the results are a definite improvement unless you want to do multiple coats and sand inbetween. I'm told you and get a really good match that way.

This thread brings up a question in my mind that someone here likely knows the answer to. Can you order a single new panel from Smart to replace a damaged piece (Like lovealways' hatch), or are they only sold as sets?

Single Panels?

As far as I know, you can buy panels singly. They each have a discrete part number.

According to posts 18 and 35 in this thread (Fender Bender), single panels can be bought. It's not clear from the posts, though, whether the panels come painted or not.
