Seat belt buckle jammed

Anyone else had a problem with the seat belt buckle? Mine (driver's side) suddenly became jammed!

I can no longer slip the tongue into the buckle! It acts as the the buckle has a foreign object in it, so it will not accept the tongue. Upon inspection, it looks like the mechanism is always in the "latched" position, as if the tongue were locked in. If I press the red release button, the mechanism slips out of place so I can get the tongue into the buckle.

Irritating as all get out. I searched, and couldn't find any other occurrences.

2008 cabrio with 13K miles.

PS -- I thought the correct word would be 'jambed" but a search suggested that spelling is archaic. Seems to me that a "jammed" belt would have misplaced fruit preserves on it. No wonder English is so hard to learn.....

I have the same problem. I use two fingers to move the red button as I incert the key. Can't take the stupid thing apart to examine it. As usual the dealer is no help.
