How long have you had your smart? From what I understand, the service interval in the computer is based on mileage and duration... if you're close to a year it will go off.
When I bought my smart after 2,500 miles and only 7 months the spanner came up and told me a service was due, so took it in to the main stealers and they said when I had bought it the service clock had'nt been reset to zero as the car had been in a warehouse for 5 months before I bought it and it had timed out to the year, so they just reset it.
We don't have to wait for our smarts over in Britain, I read the threads about how long you guys have to wait for your cars and feel sorry for you, really long wait times.
