Now I know why I couldn't take mine apart and following the pliers and cloth directions mine is scarred up - I have the new one and mine is an 11/07 build.....so much for smart using the same parts.....

But my build date was also 2/08, just my luck I got the "old" shifter. This "new" shifter seems to learn faster than the other one.

From what I can see, I have the new shifter and my car's currently at the shop for sticking in Park. My build was 11/07.

So what we have is a mish mosh of "old" and "new" shifters regardless of what month the car assembled in. I wonder if Evilution has seen this problem on the other side of the pond?

Either that, or they all start to fail as the miles rack up. I sure hope not, BTW Evo has the Euro box and they have had few problems.

The new lower plastic sleve turns counterclockwise an 1/8 th to 1/4 turn. Then you can pull straight up on the knob to remove it. My car would not shift so I pulled the knob and lubed it a bit. Now it works perfect.
