shifting smoother

I my shifter was replaced a few weeks ago. I noticed when I got back that the car shifts a lot smoother now. The dealer reflashed some new software in my car which seems to have helped the car's shifting.

I talked to a friend the other day that has 2 smart cars. He got one when they 1st came out a few months ago, then got the second car just a few days ago. His older car has the harsh shift and bucks just like my car use to do(which most people consider normal on a smart). His newer smart shifts smoothly like my car shifts now.
My friend is taking his older(by 4 months) Smart to the dealer to have it reflashed later this week.

Just wanted to share... if your car seems to be shifting too hard you might want to have your dealer make sure that you have the latest software in the car.

hmm. it would be nice if there was an official source of firmware updates like this - like a communication from smart indicating that an improvement has been made to the firmware and to arrange for an appt to have the car updated.
that would be a positive PR move.
think of all the people who have no idea this option is available because they are not on a forum.

I can see it now. Take your car in for an oil change, 10000 mile service and a firmware flash all at the same time.

That would be TOTALLY great! I LOVE getting flashed! I'd really like to get the software upgraded if it improves & smooths the shifting that much!!! Definetly!!! Just e-mailed Ethan with Seattle smartcenter.
