shutdown at highway speeds

Driving to work the other day and I noticed the dash panel went blank. Thayt kind of freaked me out and I noticed the accelerator pedal didn't make me go any faster.....

I had dropped the cap to my soda down by the E-brake and when I reached for it, I bumped the ignition key to off. I turned it to the on position and the dash came back on, motor started running and I sped off. I doubt if the cars near me even knew what had happened. I think I have too many keys on my key ring which is what I think I bumped.

I did have a good laugh about it.

I was using the cup holder. It is difficult to drink with the cap on the bottle, and in accordance with the instructions, I keep the cap on when using the cup holder (unless I drop it) It would be nice if the cup holders weren't so far away.

I know... don't drink and drive, you might hit a bump and spill your drink...

There was a similar thread a while ago that discussed bumping the key during an aggressive left turn and consequently shutting down the engine. Evilution has some suggestions on how to mod the key fob to separate the actual metal key part from the fob. This would reduce the height of the key and maybe help avoid accidental bumps into the key.
