Thank you for this post, redbluff. It made me add one item to the already long list of "items to do upon delivery": "show me the jacking points". As for the other aspects of your unfortunate event, most users won't have any control over them (spare availability, tower truck operator knowledge...).

I guess that means that "smart 1" service does not include tire rescue. Does anyone have a breakout of what "smart 1" DOES include?

The smart Tire and Wheel Service Contract for five years available at time of purchase. (I paid $345 for five years). Covers up to $100 of Towing. Tire & Rim repair or replacement if damaged due to road hazard. Fuel,oil,fluid and water delivery-you pay for the fluids. Lock-out assistance. Jump start for dead battery. Take a look at the brochure, or better yet the contract, when you take delivery of your smart. Sounded good to me. Extended Service Contract didn't.

Not add on coverage my car got delivered with a card from smart with a sticker and the 800 # and It states includes one free tire service did that stop happening. This was part of the basic package that came with my car.
