Smart Car technical spec manual - Page 4

That manual is handy. Not complete but handy. I have a new smart and in looking under it, did I see an oil drain plug that takes a 24 mm wrench? I've never seen one that big. Any idea why it would be that big?

Real service manual, according to smartusa this past week, is to be available online around the end of March. There will be a website for each smart car owner (probably based on VIN). There will be links to emission data and service manual. Subscription?, not sure, if so, how much? don't know.

Keep in mind the manual available through this site is for the 2008 cars; 2009 info may be different.

You would think it'd be in the Owners Manual but it's not; here's something from the forums:

It IS available currently. Go to the 'smartUSA' home page, scroll to the very bottom of the page, click on "owners" and it takes you to the window to PURCHASE smart tech info.

You can select from different plans, varying from "one day" to "annual" with prices ranging from about $8 to $450.

I would suggest you get your local club to get an email address and set it up for access to all club members who shared in the expense of purchasing the "annual" membership.

I would think it would be well worth it!

$450 a year - pretty pricey IMHO. Not sure how closely they check for "service professional" credentials either. But, it is available now which is an improvement - we can't complain about that any more.
