Precisely. Would not a forward biased diode array, along the lines of the bridge rectifier of the alternator, do the trick?

Just thinking.

NO PROBLEMS.

Right now the engineers are working on a solution. And you are correct we have 1600+ cars sold from our dealership and right now I am dealing with 4 vehicles that have this code. So by no means a HUGE issue.

So far no real consistancy as to what devices are causeing the problem so right now we are recommending to not have any device that has a battery left plugged while shutting the vehicle down.

anything new from the engineers? I'm changing out my old XM Radio for a new one. The old one never caused a check engine light - hoping the new one works OK.

~This is working so far without problems~
I have the top of the line Garmin 885T GPS (voice operated, which works slicker than POOP) and it is plugged into a 12 volt outlet I put into the glove box to power it full time (its plugged in 24 hours a day)... Its hard wired to the fuse block, and plugged with a fuse into one of the "Switched" extra sockets on the fuse block, and a ground wire to the factory ground stud straight back on the floor behind the fuse block... Some days I turn it off when it asks and others I don't... NO Problem yet Knock On Wood...

Quirky Little Car

I use an xmp3 player from pioneer and it triggers the check engine light - but I love the player.

I just wanted to chime in here and say that my '09 Passion also exhibits this problem. It seems to be related to a Bluetooth Garmin GPS unit I use with my Blackberry. The Blackberry itself doesn't seem to cause the problem. I've charged the Blackberry several times without a problem. However, when I charge the Garmin and turn off the car, I get code U0002 along with a MIL if I don't unplug it first.

Glad to know that others are having this problem and I just need to unplug the unit before turning off the car.
