I'd just like to know the recommended jacking points for a standard floor jack. Did I miss it in my manual? Are there jacking points? Is a tire service center (for example) going to have a clue how to put it on a lift?

I've tried to jack up my smart but I am having difficulty trying to leave it on jack stands. There are triangles marked on the plastic molding underneath the car telling you where to jack. That part was easy. Use a floor jack and the car lifts up. However, I am stumped as how to put the car on jack stand as there's really no room to work with once you put the floor jack to jack it up properly. DO NOT TRY TO LIFT IT TO EITHER SIDE OF THE TRIANGLE. I tried to lift the car up with the floor jack just a few inches away from the triangle and it didn't take long to hear a loud pop from the plastic panel under the car to snap. The plastic piece is bend a little and I think that's the only damage there is. I wanted to take the wheels out and take them for a powder coating. Now I'm gonna to wait until someone figures out how to put it on jack stands properly.

Oh and I've search the manual and it did not tell you anywhere to jack up the car.

How about getting two 2x4s cut to the length between the triangles on each side. use a floor jack to raise up the entire side and slide a jack stand under each end of the 2x4. Repeat for the other side. Works like a champ on the MINI.

I found a front point nothing at the side/rear the 450 had distinct points this has me thinking about fabricating something to replace the saddle in a floor jack. karl
has anyone done this with something you would carry in the car

Lift Points?

Not sure if this helps, but it's relevant discussion.

smart Jacking

My inclination would be to not buy a trolley jack and jack stands, but buy four hydraulic bottle jacks instead. Light duty ones are not that expensive.
