Smart letter (official program name: “smart 2.0 Check Up”)

Did everyone get the year anniversary smart letter? It wasn't for an particular dealer. It is offering a service checkup and up grade to the 2009 transmission. I was wondering if anyone took the offer up and the price and if it's that much difference.

Hi Faith,
It's free and should be done at the scAlecandria (since you got your car there). It entails several improvements.
Check, for more details.

I got my "official" letter today. I'll take it the dealer when I get a chance, I do have a relative that is at the hospital terminally ill in a city with a Smart Center. Considering killing two birds with one stone...that is probably a poor choice of words. I may stop by the dealer if I get a chance if I head up that way....then again we may load up a few of the Smarts on a trailer behind the truck and head up to visit and leave the cars at the dealer.

IF you are taking your smart in for the 2.0 service upgrade.
CALL FIRST
(especially if you ARE NOT taking it to the dealer you bought from?)

TWO of the issues are stickers that are VIN specific and the dealer needs to make sure the stickers have physically arrived at their shop?

IF you are taking it to the dealer you purchased from, then call to make sure that they are aware you are coming?

I did not even bother waiting to get the letter. I just called the dealership, and asked if they were taking cars to do it, and got it done 3-27-09. Since i only have the Pure, i have no way in experiencing the pleasure of using the paddles to shift easier with, so i will get into the shift points.
There are notable differences in the way the transmission behaves all in the positive spin. It operates much more efficiently not as hesitant as the old tooling, and it is not as rough as the older tooling. Well programming. I am not using the manual mode until the next fill-up only that it needs to learn me all over again unless i am wrong in doing so. Still love the car, but more so now than ever. Anybody else care to share their opinions on the upgrade?

Is there a deadline for this free up-grade?

I don't believe so, Usually it is done when you are in for the regular maintenence at 10,000 or 20,000 miles but can be done any time. Just call and get on the schedule.
