smart as a rental car - smooth shifting instructions

We have just placed smart cars into service in a rental situation (Car Sharing). How can we best instruct drivers on smooth shifting techniques? These people will not have a lot of seat time in the vehicles to get used to the shifting. Our vehicles are the USA Passion Model (Yellow with Black Cell).

None just drive it. The powertrain management computer will figure out the nut behind the wheel in short time. New they are a bit like playful porpoises that goes away very quickly.

Just tell them to lift when they feel a shift happening if they want a smoother shift
