smart safety: Life Hammer and ResQMe

anyone out there have one of these in their smartmobile?

Life Hammer and ResQMe: Car Emergency Escape Tools - Break Car Window - Cut Seat Belt

looks like a Life Hammer or a ResQMe keychain might come in handy if you're trying to get out of a critically damaged smart car.

i have no connection to the manufacturer of this product; however, i have known several police, fire, emt people who carry these in their work and personal vehicles and have found them very useful in emergency situations.

If you ever land upside down in a wreck, it is almost impossible to release the seat belt due to the pressure on the release button. Always have one of those in the vehicles we normally drive. One thing though, keep it close so that you can reach it if ever needed. Doesn't do any good somewhere that you can't reach while still buckled up.

ResQMe device--for the smart

I keep one of these in my 2007 CLS 550 Mercedes Highway car; now I'll have to get one to keep in my daily driver city smart CABRIO car. Fortunately, I've never had to use one yet.
In my previous 2003 Mercedes SL 500, one day my door locking device failed, and LOCKED ME inside the car--I was ready to use it, but I was able to use my cell phone to call a friend to come to the car to open the door-- with a lot of turning pressure using a door key on the outside. SCARY --

Not a bad idea to have one, especially given that European crash test video of a smart with a Mercedes that ended with the smart spinning upside down. Gonna have to track one of these down.

It seems like I saw one of these (or something similar) tested on dateline several years ago, and it took them 10 min to actually cut through the seat belt. Have these gotten any better?

Res-Q-Me

Try the Res-Q-Me from this dealer. I've bought tons of stuff from them and they have always been excellent.

Life Hammer & ResQMe. Check out the videos on their use too - Res-Q-Me mini LifeHammer Scroll down towards bottom pf page.

NOTE the warning - WARNING: this tool will not break windshields or laminated glass, and some vehicle side windows are laminated. Res-Q-Me is a rescue tool. It is only for use in vehicular emergencies. It must not be used for any other purpose except for rescue. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

The pocket device (Res-Q-Me) is great on your key chain.

Just my 2 cents.

where would you mount one on your smart?

i was thinking on the side of the center (shifter) console?

or maybe, under the dash...beneath the radio?

or...on one of the front windshield pillars?

or maybe even under the airbag warning sign above the rear view mirror?

or...under the driver's seat?
