Smoke (ok, Steam) from Front Access Panel

Was driving in the rain today and noticed smoke coming from under the front access panel. Thought to myself "Great, NOW I get a problem with this thing after swearing to everyone that it's a good little car and wouldn't be problematic."

I pulled over to check it out and it turned out to be steam. Not from the cooling system but from the rain water hitting the radiator. Never had a car with the radiator this close to the front before... Just wanted to let everyone know that its not necessarily a problem to see steam on a rainy day wafting over your windscreen. That is unless you smell coolant and well, you'd know it then.

thank you for posting this. i was running errands yesterday in the rain waiting for the light to turn green. i too noticed steam/smoke from the front end and thought the same thing. when i got to home depot (don't laugh i just need to p/u a carpet knife) and smelled the front. thankfully it had no scent.

thanks again!

Steamy!

Similar experience. ANT BEE came out of the car wash and she was "Smokin'!" (steam). That's when I remembered that the radiator was up front.

NOT a problem

I just found this thread, and it is a *good to know*.

Last winter, I was in stop and go evening traffic and there was a light rain. Everytime we came to a stop (after moving 15 feet) there would be steam coming off the front. My rider asked if the radiator was there, so we reasoned that was the source and I didn't need to worry.

So now I know
