Spare - Jack - Wrench - Jack Points
Read thru many related posts but still can't find it all. I want to outfit the car with a spare, jack, wrench, and knowledge about where to place the jack. If we get a flat, I don't want to kill the tire with goop. When I emailed Smart about this, this is what I got back:
"Dear smart Enthusiast, Thank you for your interest in smartUSA! Please contact your authorized smart center for more information. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us via email or by phone at 1.800.smartusa. Jason Dupree Customer Service www.smartusa.com 1.800.smartusa"
That was a lot of help. I am 3 hours from the dealership.
So, can anyone give me the details for the following? Tx!
1. spare and inexpensive rim from tirerack (that will definitely fit front or back)
2. jack
3. wrench
4. 4 jack points

You do realise that not all car wheels will fit all cars?
I seriously doubt tirerack will be able to do you a 3.112.5mm PCD spare.
You are better off just going to smart and buying a narrow front wheel and get a tyre put on it elsewhere.
Most Ford jacks will work fine.
You will have some serious problems finding a proper car wheel wrench to fit the smart as it's only 15mm A/F. You are better off getting a torque wrench, an extension bar and a 15mm socket.
Jack points are located just behind the front wheels and just infront of the rears wheels, if you look you will see them.

You can use a 5/8" socket in place of 15mm. In either case it is best to use only a 6 point socket.

rocket science?
2008 Passion
This is not supposed to be that hard (maybe I am making it so!)
So it sounds like a 15mm socket wrench will do - that helps.
Evilution - a 3.112.5mm PCD spare - what is this - sorry don't understand your lingo.
Others - does tire rack indeed sell a tire AND a rim that will fit this car in either the front or rear position as a temporary spare, and has someone actually put in on and driven the car?
Jack points - all I see is plastic plastic plastic. Anyone want to post a pic or be more descriptive?
Jack - what the heck - Ford jacks fit, then they don't? uggh. I guess whether or not it fits depends on what the space looks like underneath in which its supposed to fit, which per the above I still don't understand.
Appreciate people's thoughts, but before spending bucks I guess I was looking for someone that had been there ... done that (bought a tire and rim, used a jack and where, put the tire/rim on, drove the car).
Anyone done that?

Send a PM to fasteddy, a member of this forum. He'll sell you a steel wheel, the right tire, and explain everything to you.

No just auto maintanance
You know what the dumb kids get into. took some pictures of the 451 jack points had the camera stopped raining bla bla need to figure out how to get them from photo bucket to here. The plastic rocker covers go to the seam in the triton. There is an about 1/2 " wide cap that covers the pwdercoated bits so any sissors with a jaw opening over 13mm or 1/2" should work. http://http://s272.photobucket.com/a...j181/rothkarl/

Jack Points
didn't quite understand Karl. took a trip under the car with my trusty canon and tried duding up some shots. See pic. Here ya go - thoughts appreciated.
Orientation - top of pic is outside left edge of car as you are looking underneath. left pic is toward front wheel, right pic is toward rear left wheel.
Front wheel pic: There is a plastic semicircle well toward the outer edge. There is a triangle embossed into the plastic on the straight line/edge of the semicircle (in red for illustration). The other semicircle seems solid metal. Which is the correct jack point - the outer semicircle (plastic with ? metal underneath) or inner semicircle (metal with hole in it)?
Rear wheel pic: There is a plastic semicircle well toward the outer edge. There is a triangle embossed into the plastic on the straight line/edge of the semicircle (in red for illustration). Beyond the straight line of the outersemicircle is a flimsy piece of plastic - clearly not for support. Is the correct jack point the outer semicircle?
Problem is you cannot see nor feel what is above these semicircles - feels solid but..... If these are the jack points, am I correct in that the head of the jack fits inside these semicircle wells, rather than eg the straight edge of the semicircle?

Firstly I said MOST Ford jacks fit, being thousands of miles away from your country I cannot be sure what models you have but I can assure you we do not have the Mustang. Do you have the Focus?
Just because there is plastic doesn't mean it isn't a jacking point, it is just protecting the metal underneath. Looking at the pictures they look like the jacking points to me (if they are in the position I said about before).
Notice the raised seam that runs across the jacking points, most Ford jacks have a shape which matches that shape.
3x112.5 PCD. 3 is the number of studs, 112.5mm is the pitch circle diameter of the bolts, you don't really need to know this though if the above say that tirerack sell them.

Don't worry, I didn't either.
The semicircle highlights the jacking point, the actual jacking point is the raised bead of metal that runs between the semi circles.
