Spontaneous locking
I was sitting at my computer and a hear the beep-beep-beep of the car in my garage locking. I'm the only driver with one set of keys in my jacket pocket. I unlock the car - beep - and put the keys on the table where there's no accidentally bumping the button. Beep-beep-beep a few minutes later. I find the other set of keys in a coat in the closet, unlock the car with those, and leave that set on the counter as well. Beep-beep-beep. I go out into the garage to see if anyone's fooling around with me - nope. I unlocked and stood by the car and, after a short wait, beep-beep-beep.
I tried using each key to lock then unlock the car. A short wait and beep-beep-beep. I get mechanical feedback from the switches suggesting they engage and disengage properly yet my car wants to relock itself.
Does my smart feel insecure?
Any other thoughts on why I may be experiencing the spontaneous locking? At least the alarm isn't going off spontaneously! (knocking on wood)
I'm considering finding some metal boxes to place each set in at different times (or together) to see if one is spontaneously transmitting.
I'd hate to be driving along, have the car arm itself, then freak out because there's motion detected in the car!

John,
You are not going Mad! Not sure about the first time it locked, IE after you got out of the car. But, from what I was told, and have seen, if you don't at least open the door after you unlock it with in a min - 3 min, it rearms/locks. I am guessing that if no one is doing anything after you get out, it most likely does the same thing after say 30min. My wifes Jetta locks after about 30min of no one in car. hehe.

The vehicle will lock again automatically within approximately 60 seconds of unlocking with the key if neither the driver's nor passenger door is opened.
|
The gas tank flap lock is paired with the driver's door.

Sad, but true. Several times I've found a Google search finds information on SCOA better than the site's own search function does.
