Stereo in the Cabrio...

Does the stereo in the Cabrio come with the additional speakers? I was looking at one on the showroom floor and I could only find 2 speakers total... they were in the front doors... but I thought I heard the upgraded stereo came with more speakers and subwoofer???

The sub is under the driver's seat. The tweeters are smartly disguised in the defroster grille near the base of the windshield and use the windshield to bounce the highs back towards you.

The radio " 10 " or upgraded stereo on the loaded Cabrio ain't exactly a top of the line system IMHO. Why would one even WANT a front loading CD player instead of a proper display and control system for iPOD, navigation, DVD playing, etc ????

If I get out of my Benz with a nice nav/stereo/comm system in the dash and get into the Smart I feel like I just stepped back into the dark ages....

I like a LOT of the techy stuff on the Smart and we like the car a BUNCH, but we think the stereo system is a low-end piece of crap with no features which ought not to be the only option on a " top of the line " model from any manufacturer in this age of enlightenment...

rant over

:-))

Yes, but compare the MSRP of your Mercedes to the MSRP of the smart ;)

Because not everyone has an iPod? I really really don't want to get into the iPod world. I like my Creative MP3 player and am looking forward to the day I can afford a Cowon player (http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/cowon/q5w/).

What I want to know is 'Where are the iPod<->3rd party player converters so that iPod navigation systems will work with them'. If I could get one of those, then I'd be happy. =)

I had my cabrio for almost 3 months before I learned it had a sub-woofer?
I am tone deaf, so I don't listen to music, just talk radio.

I was playing around with the bass setting one day, and my butt started vibrating.

I replaced the two door speakers with two nice Memphis speakers, installed a set of rear panasonic speakers and replaced the under-seat subwoofer with a Boss Bass600... it sounds like a "real" stereo now... very, very nice.

That, there is funny, no matter who ya are.

The Pioneer HU makes the premium Smart speakers sound pretty nice. Being a bit of an audiophile, I LISTEN to music, but in a (noisy) car, especially a cabrio.............
Fingers in the wrong place?
