I to have been having the same problem for about a week, shifting from P-R or D-R. My check engine light just came on again also. I brought it in today, I have 27k miles, the engine light will be fixed with a new gas cap($109) and I need a new clutch, not covered under the extended warrantee(1,300 +/_) and while they have it apart getting the 30K service done($329). Shouldn't there be a recall for the clutch?
Since it appears to be a confusion in the switches or software induced damage to the clutch rather than wear of the clutch plate, I'd think so but - then again - I'm no product lawyer.

Well the gas cap was only $38.28 but they charged me $80 for labor,WTF, so it was 118.28 total. The 30 k check up was advertised as $329.95, they charged me $454.70. The clutch parts(plate, grease & trans fluid) was $433.89 then labor for $992.00, totaling $1425.89. This was NOT covered by the extended service contract. Total bill of the day $2066.80

Is your extended service contract the smart extended warranty or some other service contract? I believe the clutch replacement should be covered less the deductable.
My car just started having this issue off and on today.
So basically, I need to call a dealer (closest one is 7 hours away) And I need a new clutch plate. I have an 08 car but I had the clutch plate in 09 with the new '09 model.
I am not going there and paying out of pocket, I rather have the guy 3 blocks away from me repair it.

If you don't have that latest trans software update, that's probably what they are going to apply before replacing the clutch...

As I recall, there is a software update that corrects this issue. 2.03 I was under the impression that a new clutch plate was not required, just the update. I maybe misguided on this. It might be worth investigating or maybe someone else on here has additional info.
Sorry to hear of your problems. Just like RFERNATT SAID above!
