Thanks for info. Wow! you got a fresh one.

It looks like this switch failure is continuing on the new builds. It would be no big deal if it just lit up a light on the panel, but if it strands your wife in the boonies (some dark and stormy night), because the shifter locks up. then that's a big deal.

The shifter looks for a signal from the brake switch to tell it that it that's OK to come out of park. (BTW oiling the shifter knob will not release it.)

It seems we all need to learn the yellow lever trick. A2Jack.

First thing to look for is if the brake lights are working. If they are then it is not a stop lamp switch. If they are not and you are stuck someplace the switch is usually just stuck. Now it will need to be replaced but pop the brake pedal a half dozen times and that will normally free it up. Have had about 3 come into the shop like this and have been able to get all of them started off the tow truck by doing this.
