Tat, Tat. Tat, Now Repaired.
Mark, (SM) at Smart Bloomfield, along with Tech Jason, just returned from the factory, removed the irritating tapping sound completely.
Here's what they did...
1. Replaced purge valve with the new 09 production part.
2. Added extra isolation by placing an extra rubber pad under the new unit.
Neither my wife nor I can hear it tap at all now. We love it as its better than new. 21k on the ode. A2Jack

a2jack,
Did they fix this under warranty. My car is really bad. Who do I need to talk to? The car sounds like junk, at times.

Yes, all repaired under warranty. Our car too, sounded really bad.
Insist they order the new part. Deal only with your service manager. Let us know how you make out.
A2Jack.

Pete. Not yet, lets wait awhile. As for told you so, no one else ran this out to proof and a fix, other than this forum. Don't be so smug! A2Jack .
