The sticker on the door (or the owners' manual) is always the way to go because a tire will only list maximum pressure relative to bursting not relative to a properly inflated tire for even wear and proper contact area.

Without proper contact area, braking ability can be extremely affected!

Step 1. Tire light goes on.
Step 2. We drive to the Gas Station.
Step 3. Gas Station Air pump has a pressure garge built in.
Step 4. Check pressure on first tire.
Step 5. Add free air until pressure gauge agrees with the recommended pressure printed on the door.
Step 6. Repeat Steps 4 & 5 for second, third and 4th Tires.
Step 7. Light goes off.

Repeat as needed.

Tire Insurance? Get it!

Tire light was on this morning...
Headed to the Doctor for the annual
Drove to Air pump station about a mile
Oh poo... air leaking from rim area.
Must be from when bumping that curb when rushing a customer home to get his hair.

Got me to the Doctors, but flat again when I came out
Got out the inflater and goo bottle
Bunch squirted out a hole in the edge.
Drove it home, just a few miles
Flat again.

Called smart Seattle, then AAA
AAA got me there, 17 miles so an extra $34.00

New Tire... $103.06
New Rim... $364.22
New Goop bottle and hose... $60.63
Total Tax & Labor ... $610.58

Seeing as how I was motivated, while I awaited the new set-up, I inquired about the tire insurance I had passed on a year ago.

5 year tire and rim insurance.

$395.00 with tax 432.53

Service guy mentioned "Don't ask, Don't tell"
Don't say you hit a curb, you can say you hit a broken chunk of curb in the road, you hit a big ???, You hit a chuck hole. Hitting the CURB isn't covered, I guess that is just bad driving and not covered.

Well it was a pricey day, but what the heck, it's just money.

I think the tire insurance is worthwhile, that little curb bump would have had no effect on the big ol' 86 Cad, but these little rims are easy to dent.

Again the service dude mentioned "they are soft rims so they collapse in a collision not stiff and sharp and arn't forced up into the cab.

Live and learn
I'm still happy, just poorer.............

...hey you with the skinny wallet...sorry about your $$$ ...it's just money...
...but even with the tire extended warranty you still have to read the fine print...when I asked after my bent wheel over in Cincinnati the said that the tire has to loose air before they covered... it doesn't matter is it is bent quite a bit..it has to loose air first...

jetfuel...still holding air

yeah it would have cost as much for just the hubcab you would have ruined on the '86 Cad. and if you had ruined a new Cad wheel and tire (all low profile tires get destroyed by curbs) it would have cost 6X as much. Carry a hammer with you if you continue hitting curbs so you can bang the rim back in shape for free

I haven't seen "free air" at a gas station in a looooong time !!

I have to drop 75 cents each time I want to air up. Sadly, it's still easier than pulling out my compressor (the non-smart one) and hooking it up.

That's why I try to check tire pressure while at home; the compressor in the garage is always hooked up.
