Tire pressure monitoring ???

I'm going to get winter tires and was wondering if there is any problems related to not using tire pressure monitors. I realize that I will have the dash light on. I regularly check my tires and have never relied on tire monitors before.

No problems, just the little orange light on the instrument cluster.

Padawan is correct. I had my "snows" on all last winter without the pressure sensors. When I put the regular ones back on, I kind of missed the dash warning light.

I think of it more as the, Don't worry about winter weather, you have your Blizzaks installed! light.

They're terrific. I never had even the slightest problem in the cold, snow, and ice last winter.

Turn Tire Pressure light off?

UM, I could be wrong (it has happened before)

But, if you install rims that do not have pressure sensors.
And your dash pressure light comes on.

Then push the RESET sensor button on the dash, wouldn't that turn off the dash light? (basically resetting it to nothing)?

I ran the OE tires all last winter through ice and snow and cold down to 0*F. No problems, but the tread was fresh. I relied on them everyday while the AWD sat all winter unused during a rather nasty winter.

But I've got about 25K on those tires now, so this winter I'll be running the Blizzak WS-60's in a staggered config close to OE sizes (front is a 145 vs 155). Along with new wheels, I also added the TPM's.

I'll remember the Blizzaks being on-- not by the TPMS light-- but my aching knees and back After I switch them when the weather gets colder...

No, because the sensors will not be transmitting back to the on-board receiver. If they're missing, the light goes on regardless of whether you've "reset" the system.

P. 192 in the manual - the light flashes for 60 seconds and then stays illuminated when there's something wrong with the system (such as no signal from the non-existent tire pressure sensors.)
