TPMS crying wolf

Has anybody else experienced Tire Pressure Monitoring System false alarms a little bit too often?
This time I got a false alarm with 40psi all around.

After you have gone to all 4 wheels and made sure your cold pressure is where you want it, push your rest button on the dash. Then they will be set to YOUR desired settings.

I thought I was getting false alarms, but I had a bad gauge.

When I first got my Pure, they were set at 42 all the way around, light kept going off. I lowered them back to the spec on the door frame and the light never came back, plus the ride was much nicer.

Oh come on, the TPMS light WILL NOT illuminate for too much psi. Smart Center themselves explained to me and I quote :" you can fill it with 80psi and it will still only alert to low pressure."

Why doesn't TPMS alert you that a tire is too full while you are rolling those tires on the highway or too low when you get off the highway and into fresh snow (much less after sitting cold and parked for 8 hours)?

I wasn't in the dark about its operation; (which I can't say about others), I was just wondering if ANYBODY ELSE had a TPMS crying wolf.

...if it is a low tire press situation the telltale light will illuminate when key on...
...if it is a system malfunction the telltale light will flash for about a minute and then it will remain illuminated...which condition do you have?..

jetfuel....just curious

It does not flash so there is no systemwide malfunction.

...have you tried a different gauge?...I had the light come on all the way through the Dragon run in TN and back home...kept checking it and it showed OK...dealer said press was too low...had them serviced and double checked it with my "old" gauge and mine showed higher press...soooo..I got a "new" gauge...

jetfuel...is hell getting "old"
