Traction Control

Has anyone figured out how to turn off the traction control?
It is beyond useless in the snow trying to get up even a 3-4%
grade. The damn computer takes over and shuts the engine
down. I even went to the dealer and they made a few calls
to service centers with no replies on how to disable it.

There is not a way to turn it off. My car, delivered in Feb in western MA never got stuck in all the snow we got this year with just the all season rubber the car came with.

I am not advocating this or recommending this and it is definitely a safety issue, but if you check RandyZimmer's post on racing his smart you may find the answer. Keep in mind his application is for the track; I believe you are looking for a street solution in winter conditions, exactly the time you do NOT want traction and stability control disabled, IMHO.

Great info guys.

No snow in SoCal.
I just thought it would be nice to be able to change tires w/o worrying about how the ESP gets affected.

I would definitely want larger front tires first, since the ABS gets disabled along w/ ESP.

Also, anyone make sway bars yet?
It seems Randy suggested that was a good idea to keep the rear inside tire from lifting up.
