Transmission Linkage "Repair"

I got the call yesterday from my dealer that I need to bring it in for the "extra" new car prep. The woman from the dealer kept saying over and over again that it was additional new car prep that needed to be done. I finally interrupted the stream of BS to ask if this was over the linkage and she said yes.

The only problem with bringing in the car is my dealer is 250 miles away. Kinda making me pissed. She then let me know that they were sending a technician to Las Vegas to do the work on my car since there are 3 other smart owners that needed the work done. That is great customer service there!!!

Hopefully I get to meet these owners because I don't think any of them are on here.

I would contact Smartusa about this one. If you think you have problems, I have a rear trans problem. My shifter will not go into manual, not let me remove the key, will only start in N and the P light will not come on, unless the lights are on. I have to leave the key in the ignition and cover up the key and ignition. I went to the dealer and Smart hasn't released the software to fix the problem yet! The linkage PDI should have been done before the car was delivered.

Do you have any more detail on what the nature of the problem is? Was there some adjustment to the transmission cable that should have been part of the original PDI? I just spoke with the Service Manager and am taking mine in this afternoon to have the proceedure done...

I noticed all the demo and showroom cars at out dealer going back over to the service area last week for some reason. I asked why and they said they just needed to check the cars because they had been sitting for so long and wanted to make sure they were still OK..... hmmmm....

That really IS some good service! Any idea when it will happen? If you can talk them into being first, you could send a message or your business card forward to the other owners to see if they would be interested in a meet-and-greet. I'm sure the tech wouldn't mind delivering the message.

I'll call or PM when my car gets here in LESS THAN 30 DAYS!!!

Sorry to hear about your problems but my smart has been problem free.

The linkage thing wasn't done at the dealer originally because I was one of the first to get a smart.

I may have to go in early because my appointment is at 11 on Friday. I think I am going to call the dealer back and see if I can find out when everyone else has their appointments. This would be the easiest way to get us all on the same page and hopefully we can all get together and share two parking spots!

The service work is being done at Towbin Hummer. Supposedly it will be the third quarter before they will be selling smart cars.

Ill wait for your PM....
