Transmission upgrade (official program name: “smart 2.0 Check Up")

I received a letter from Smart and in it they mention an upgrade for your transmission for 2008 models to 2009 operating mode. Have any of you had this done, and if so how much did this run you?

And I like the results, the shifting seems smoother, but its not like its all of the sudden perfect, just better...

Free is a very good price!
Had mine done and it seems to shorten the 1-2 shift time, now all up shifts seem to be about the same. Down shifting feels better too. Its not a huge difference, but noticable.

shifting was always fine for me(never did understand peoples gripes) but,, the creep or take off is drastically improved.(on my 08) much softer or smoother.

makes being in stop and go traffic a million times better..... i used to just click parking brake up a notch. but don't have to anymore.

no so harsh on engagement(clutch) ..

and they put in a different battery (said it was bigger) i never looked if it was physically bigger or just more CCA .. but none the less w/ 16k on it was nice to get a fresh battery .

i hung out. took a few hours and they did this and that.. no charge.

Make sure you ask for the massage package. It's usually included in the service and really helps work out the kinks. I got a free wash too!

Has anyone had problems with your transmission not going into gear at all. My car when it is warm will not go into reverse, even when shutting off the car and rebooting the control computer. I have had to push the car numerous times to get out of parking places and my wife is quite upset. I have hope that this miracle reprogram fixes my problem in that I have 35K on the car I am way past the warranty

Get to the dealer, Get the upgrade.

THen when they can't back it out of the shop they will think it was their fault.

I still haven't got my notice. I called the San Jose smart last week to schedule any way, and am getting crickets.

Maybe I'll try the SF dealer.
