Recently, I've noticed something not quite right with my transmission.
I found another thread which might hint at the problem, here ... down-kick
After punching the gas to pass and having the car kick down a gear, after easing up on the gas, it doesn't want to upshift. The tach is up over 5K and holding for way too long. I pop it into manual and shift up to get out of the situation. Although, I've found that lifting my foot for a second of two will eventually get it to shift ... but, that's not really what you want to do when you've just passed someone.
Another thing, just in the past week and likely related. Upon aggressive acceleration from stop in Auto mode, the car doesn't want to get out of first gear ... same solutions work as above. Tach is way high, 5K+
When I endeavor to pass, I'm in manual. I don't trust the computer to know when I want to leave the lower gear for an upper range selection. I have to be in control, it's just me.
Thats what it sounds like but let the dealer determine that. Thats what the warrenty is for
I'm making a list of things for them to check when I can get there. It is a 600 mile round trip.

I use both, and increasingly manual mode ... especially since this problem has raised its head.
Daylight tomorrow, I'm going to do an inspection of this button. See if I can spot anything visibly wrong. I've never noticed it before, just read about it in the thread I linked in my OP.
Kick down is like any other auto, it will accerlerate in the lower gear until the computer tells it to change. Lifting your foot off the accererator confuses the programming and it waits to see what it is you actually want to do. Keep your foot in it and let it do what it is programmed to do. Or, go to manual and drive the damn thing yourself!!

I understand what you're saying. But, do you understand I've had the car for 3 months and this is definitely a new development? Getting around it by driving solely in manual doesn't change the fact that something is wrong.
I guess, by posting this, I was hoping someone might lead me to a solution short of a long journey to the dealer in Atlanta or Jacksonville. Maybe not.
What is your mileage? Is the car broken in, do you think? Does it stick in the lower gear and have you verified that through empirical testing? I agree if you think there is something wrong you should pursue getting it checked out by the smart center. I've found my car doesn't shift, at full acceleration; until reaching 6K rpm, or just short of that as I'm usually too busy watching the faces of the folks in the SUV I'm passing.

My odometer is around 2,800. By empirical, you mean repeatable? Yes, it has to do with putting 'peddle to metal', and is reproducible. So, I guess another answer would be to never get that aggressive. But, that's a non-solution too IMO.
Really? 6K seems mighty high to me, but I confess a degree of ignorance here. But, what has changed in the past week or two is the holding of the lower gear when acceleration is reduced. And, from a stop, winding out the rpms in 1st gear til I back off the accelerator in alarm! It didn't used to do that.
You can imagine a trip to the dealer is not a trivial matter when you live 300 miles from them. But, ya do what you've gotta do. It may come to that.
This seem to be in line with my theory that the transmission responds to changes int he HP and torque as the engine breaks in. Very Interesting. Perhaps this is the issue? It's to bad there isn't more experience with these cars to address every issue. This could be a first!

Reason: splelling

I had this happen 2X but not since the last battery disconnect
(if that had anything to do with it?).
