Turn signal flasher problem

My US Smart car suddenly developed a fast "flash" on the right side turn signal. It clicks and flashes like mad. Turn signal light does not come on but the running lights with headlights work.
I replaced the bulbs and the flasher unit. Still, the right side just clicks and flashes like mad.
Any ideas as to what the next step is please?

Warranty issue? Take it to the dealer

If it is still under warranty (2 yrs 24k miles) take it to the dealer.

If not, then take it to the dealer anyway?

Yes, its under warranty...it does sound like dealer time. There sure seem to be a lot of electrical issues in these.
Almost reminds me of the old British Lucas electrical system I had on my MG...Lucas as you may know, was the master of darkness.

Have you checked that side marker? The only reason I've ever known a blinker to go fast is a burnt out bulb on the line... So it must be one of the three. If not, dealer run it is!

Right, remember the light on the door ( side) also flashes when the turn signal is on. That'd be an easy one to miss.

Already discussed in these threads:

Turn Signal / Flasher Problem

I have a problem - turn signals

Solution was to replace a turn signal relay.
