Very interesting service experience...

As some of you know, my smart recently died and needs a part from Germany. The original prognosis was 5-7 business days, but when I went in today they said 2-3 weeks!!!! This ticked me off a little so I asked if I could have a loaner car. This caused some panic in the eyes of the woman helping me and she made a call. Then a group of three men, including the head manager of the dealership, held a meeting for about a half hour. They ended up coming out and said the car will be ready Friday morning... I left with a smile on my face but felt a little miffed that they wouldn't just give me the best service possible to begin with.

yes. The people who work there are very nice, but remember the service dept. is separate from the dealership.

The discussion was probably whether to canabilize a poor Orphan in the back for your part. So you are getting special attention. It is apparant that the Dealerships are not equipped to handle rental or loaner requests for vehicles in for warranty repairs. Glad your gett your car fixed quickly!!

I think I had the same problem you had, needing a new shifter mechanism. They either had one in stock or took it off another car and had it done in one day. However, they refused to return my car to me, saying I had to come get it - 80 miles. What a joke.

I like the Milwaukee SmartCenter, it is it's own entity with it's own repair shop just for Smart so the tech only works on Smarts.
