warning sound after removing the key

This has happened twice, First time I wasn't sure but second time, well....

I parked in my normal spot, slight downhill, put it in park, shut off the lights, remove seatbelt and key as I open the door. I hear the warning light like the lights are on but they are not on. The key is in my hand. I put the keyback in and turn it on (not start) then back off and the warning chime goes away. Maybe I am removing the key before the lights are off, or ?? I do it all pretty quick as I am done with work and tired. Anyone seen this? I'll try to figure out more as this is the same routine every night. Everything seems to work OK.

It happened all the time for me. I think I was opening the door before taking out the key. One of the small annoyances to me...

I have heard the same chime. I am not sure why it happens. For me, I thought maybe I pressed a wrong button on the key, as I was turning the key in the ignition.
I hope someone who knows the cause will reply!!!

This happened to me, and I posted about it a long while ago under a post called beep beep beep. Your description was much more accurate than mine. It doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes, so I can't really bring it in and show them! I leave my lights on auto all the time. I have a feeling its got something to do with those that have auto lights.

I don't have auto lights but I may have opened the door before shutting off the key. I'll try that. At least I know I'm not crazy.

I've had the same thing happen 2-3 times and I don't have the auto lights either. I think it has something to do with opening the door before the key is fully removed and the sensor doesn't pick up on that fact when the key is removed. But, reinserting the key, turning to the position before start and then back off takes care of it.

I've tried to be more cognizant of fully removing the key before pulling the door handle and it hasn't happened since, but YMMV.

Same here. IMHO, not a problem.

i think it is caused by hitting the buttons on the key while taking it out - but i have nothing to confirm that and it doesn't bother me enough to try and deliberately cause it to happen.
