What has your service Experience been like

I wanted to start a thread on Rating what everyone's experience has been like when taking your smart to the dealership for service.

I had an appointment at the dealer for 2:30 to have the oil change and it took 2.5 hours to do it. The dealers excuss was "the tech's are busy performing PDI on the new cars." This is only going to get worse as more new car are show up at the dealers and more cars will be coming in for service.

How has your experience been?

My panel swap in San Diego took all day and when my car wasn't ready at the end of the day, as promised, I had to 'rent' a loaner car for $25.

Later, there was a noise concern following the panel swap, and a service advisor told me that I might have to leave it overnight again to have the noise checked out.

Not a bad ruse to keep down warranty-related concerns! Make it inconvenient.

Gene, I hadn't noticed until now that you and I are using the same smart Center (of San Diego).

Hmmmm... (comparing notes of discouragement).

Steve, I have been in twice so far and compared to my Nissan service it is not even close (Nissan Wins). While I was waiting for my car another smart owner showed up for an appointment to have his roof looked at and they told him they would not be able to look at it and for him to leave it with them. I think they need to split the time between PDI (in the AM) and service (in the PM) since San Diego has a 13 month waiting list and this is not going to get better with more car on the road and only two service techs.
