Whining Noise

Has anyone heard a whining noise coming from the engine on startup. When I start mine it sounds like a fan motor running very loud. I always shut the car off when I hear the noise. Usually on the third startup try it goes away and the car is just fine. It's like restarting it resets something. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. The car never does it after it is warmed up. Thanks for any input.

OOps,
I just found an old post by eqwalker that explains the noise. Something about an air pump charging the exhaust system. I guess it's not really a problem, just something I wasn't aware of.

Yeah my salesman told me about that...
I cannot recall what he said it was but it is supposed to happen

Yes, mine always does that on the first startup, especially on a cold morning. Mine always stops after about 10 seconds or so.

It might be the echo from all the whining about the reservation and orphan situation.

Pretty sure its the sound of the little squirrel winding up the rubber band as fast as he can!

My wife keeps hearing a whining noise coming from her husband. It should stop around the time he gets a smart.

You guys are too funny! My computer makes the same noise upon startup. I just attributed it to the same computer whirrrrr.
