It makes a cheap rattaling sound when idleing but I think it is comming from the cheap rattler the dealer put on to hold the temp tags.

This is natural for a three cylinder engine, the balance of the pistons isn't the same as for a car with an even number of cylinders so you get more engine noise.
Every 451 I've seen has made the same "lawn tractor" noise at idle.
A little longer than a year since I purchased the smart 100,000 mile extended service contract, but even at that it will be about 3-3.5 years. I don't care if some of you think that purchasing the extendended contract is stupid, if I never use it it will be money well spent.
Oh gosh no, on a car like ours where it's brand new to the market any number of things could go wrong so having the extended warranty is one of the best investments you can make.
