Windshield Washer Tank Leaking

My windshield washer tank is leaking a lot of washer fluid on the ground. Has any one had this problem and if so what did they find.

I will call the dealer and find out if the porblem is covered under the smart sponsered extended service contract.

If you have a 2008, it should be covered under the basic warranty.

I have a 2008 with 35,000+ miles on it so the basic warranty is long gone.

Did you look around, is it the connection to the hose from the tank? Is it the tank itself? The fluid isn't that dangerous to deal with...poke around. If you have the extended warranty it should cover it anyway.

But if you can find the leak source yourself you may be able to fix it yourself...it could even be a loose connection!

Yes I have seen one so far that came unconnected at the tank. To be honest I could not get my hand up in there is reach it from the top. I ended up putting the vehicle in the air and removing the lower splash guards to reconnect it.

Very tight fit.

Took the smart to smart center Tulsa to have the windshield-washer leak checked out. The tank has a crack in it so it will have to be replaced "but" the tank is on backorder, the national parts warehouse for smart USA is in Tulsa, OK. The tank will not be in until August.

On a positive note the repair, minus the $100 decductable, will be paid by the smart extended warranty. I said smart extended warranty because that is how it is listed on the work ticket.

The new tank came in so I took it to the smart center in Tulsa. The total charges for the repair were:

Labor 3.5 hours $332.50
Washer Tank $ 40.01
Tax $ 3.41

My cost was $100.00 the rest was paid by the smart extended warranty.

The repair took about 3.5 hours, they had to remove the front fenders, front bumper, cowl, radiator core support, and wiper assembly to get to the tank.

I hope this is the only time I need to use the extended warranty but I am happ that I have it.

May sound dumb, but is the leak in the front or back? I know jetfuel had a problem with the hose going to the back washer

Didn't read far enough to see the "crack" in the tank . My bad
