Windshield Wiper Speed

Haven't seen this on this forum.....

I noticed the other day that when I had my wipers on they would change speed when I was stoped at a light.

High => Low
Low => Intermittent
Intermittent => Intermittent

Is my Smart possessed ?

The Wizard of Oz gave it a brain. It knows you don't need full-time wipers when you're stopped. Have you noticed the reversing feature? If your wipers are on and you put the car in reverse, the rear wiper swipes across the window so you can see where you're backing. When I answer questions about the car, I always offer that example of why it's called Smart.

it's a (nice) feature - description is in the owners manual.

The wiper bit is one thing I love about this car... The first time it happened I thought I somehow knocked the wiper arm down.

The way the wipers work is a small thing, but really smart, and even smarter that the rear comes on when you back up. The more I drive it, the more I'm amazed at how intelligently engineered it is.

Never noticed the rear wiper thing because my Cabrio doesn't have one!
