That was probably the first mistake, yes the key was in the ignition. After reading some posts in the archived files about starting problems, we noticed that we had the "three bars" instead of the "P" symbol. After "reteaching" the computer where Park actually was, it started right up, thank God (wife was very happy). Again, thanks for your information and this site. One note here folks, I had called smart roadside service to possibly get any sugestions for a "quick fix" and our feelings was that they were more interested in writting up a service ticket to have someone come to me (kept in mind that our nearest smart center is Jacksonville, 135 miles away one way). Why the gentleman wasn't interested in trying to possibly troubleshoot our problem with us definitely has me concerned about smart's service. This could of possibly been a very expensive "repair" for us if they said that unhooking the battery was my fault. So far, I have not been very impressed with smart's customer service...tried to get information about the delivery of our car and in my opinion, a three month window was a piss-poor example of a time deadline. Oh well, at least now she has her car and has been very happy in the short time experince with it...it is definetly a crowd magnet.
