thanks chiefmc.
I found the procedure for changing the tranny oil on evilution and printed it. As soon as the oil comes in, I'll give it a whirl.
I find the shifting beween 1st and 2nd a little sluggish (hesitant). In traffic any hesitation causes some people to start changing lanes as they must think they're going to get stuck behind a slug.

Its about 1.5 quarts to fill the transmission. Do not overfill the transmission. I know some people say it doesn't matter but phyiscal space has limitations. We don't want to put any unnecessary and excessive stress on the filter, gasket, etc.

The other thing to do is lube the clutch actuator, it makes a real difference in shifting smoothness...

Fixing a slow actuator

Excellent reminder, lebirkerboy.

I have done that, however, I find it doesn't make much of a difference for me.

Just like General Motors used Dexron 3 in the 80's in all the T-5 manual transmissions. It gives you better gas miliage. If you use gear lube your car will not shift very fast when it get cold outside. Because the 6 speed transmission was designed for the Dexron oil.

Thanks again Leroy, Looking forward to meeting you at KC.

Just an update. I found out why my clutch does not shift smoothly even though I have lubed it and done the physical adjustment. The wrong type of transmission fluid is in my transmission. I have the fluid that is for the 451 and not the 450.

I believe an earlier post stated that the 450 uses the Dexron III fluid and that is correct. Mine has the 75W-90 stuff for the 451s

Looking for some Dexron III now so I can change the fluid this weekend.

Of course now the other thing is I need the transmission to be retaught (via MB Star) and any updates for the computer.

Really, really, really looking forward to the Nationals and seeing Leroy and/or Leonard (and their MB Star systems) there!!!

I just hope I can be there but the Air Force reserves are making us have an inspection the weekend of the Nationals. What ever it takes I will try to be there to program all the cars that I can.

briansmart,
If I recall correctly you're in Denver - maybe wrong.
However, if that's the case and you ever get into a real jam, I have the Star System and have used it on my 2005 passion successfully to make my extra FOB, adjust the clutch, tranny and upgrade the software and run diags. I know - I'm so proud - had a little help from a friend. In any case, just thought you should know. And don't sweat the Dextron III. Checker auto parts has it.
