Another thing you can do to quite simply and meaningfully improve your gas mileage is to get yourself a ScanGaugeII digital display. With it, you will quickly discover what driving behaviors you can learn to better your fuel economy!
briansmart,
If I recall correctly you're in Denver - maybe wrong.
However, if that's the case and you ever get into a real jam, I have the Star System and have used it on my 2005 passion successfully to make my extra FOB, adjust the clutch, tranny and upgrade the software and run diags. I know - I'm so proud - had a little help from a friend. In any case, just thought you should know. And don't sweat the Dextron III. Checker auto parts has it.
Thanks for the tips, cfriedma. I used to live in Boulder, CO. No longer. I'm in the ATL now.
There is a crew coming from England with the remapping gear to remap your 450 up to 120 hp. Let me know if you want it done to yours. shawnakapete@gmail.com
put "Smart remap" in the subject and your contact info.

120hp? Flywheel hp maybe, but not 120 rwhp. I'd have to see some rpm/hp/tq graphs to convince.
I have friends who do the engine remaps for the 450's and will be here in March 2010 to do remaps fo the engine to take it up to 120 HP. Contact me and I will set up times for people to get their cars moded and the will be able to work on your cars and help with questions you mayhave.

there's a ton you can do to get more power out of these little cars! last dyno on mine has it at 102 bhp.
on mine:
air box out, pipercross cold air induction kit in
janspeed intercooler pipes with forge dump valve
oil catch tank
forge tik pipe
roadster turbo
4.0 bar fpr
remap by flying tiger
janspeed stealth exhaust
s-mann oil cooler
spin-on oil adapter with additional plate for oil temp/pressure monitored thru mdc bord computer.
I added all of this at about 10K mileage. Car now has 42K on it and have not experience a single problem, no oil loss, nothing. well worth it in my book! this little smart moves and averages about 42mpg and that's with my lead foot.
Where did you get the spin on oil adapter? I'm in Seattle
Guys, if you want to get the most from your car, remap the engine chip. I have, and this next weekend, dec 17, 18 19 I have someone from UK in northern cal who can do it for you. 408-455-0900 if you want more info.
I have one and it's great, really feel the difference.
You can turn it up and down for more or less power too, and you can unplug it if heading to a dealer.
They might not like a re-map and might even wipe it out like they did on mine when working on your car.
You then need to track down a pay the installer again to put it back in.
