DE-Lipping

42-24 (Don)

Thanks for the tip about the de-lipping/air cleaner advantage (MPG).

I can't believe how simple it was (almost as easy as changing a tail light bulb), I ordered the K&N filter (couldn't get the ITG or the others some spoke about in the US) and will be here Monday.

I didn't order the SMann scoop, with the $ slipping a silver scoop would of been a bit pricey, so I tried this mod instead http://www.onsmart.co.uk/content/view/51/1/ and varied it a bit http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7561371 and http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7561370

After we spoke the other day I searched all the threads looking for a bench mark (MPG wise) for this mod, I couldn't find but 1, and that 1 post spoke about a 10% increase in MPG (30 to 40 extra miles per tank) with this mod, we'll see.

Anyways, thanks (again) for the phone chat the other day, it will take me almost 2 weeks before I know if there is any increase in MPG (how long it takes me to go through a tank of gas).

Thanks for the tips

Hey All

Well I went throught my first tank with the De-lip, K&N filter and the self made scoop, and the results are 41.1 MPG mixed http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/detail/194504.html

BUT, with this tank I had to drive 3 times in the snow ( about 60 miles) and I pre-heated the car twice for about 15 min (cold NH morning).

I must say it felt different (I think) and seemd not to need as much gas to maintain speed, but the mileage does not say the mod made any differance.

My next tank ( if there is no snow or the mornings aren't so cold that I have to warm it up) may be a better guide and I will wait to see the results of a tank full that is not affected by the elements before my final report.

Thanks for following
