Finally spare keys obtained and programmed

After many months of trying to obtain spare keys for my 2005 passion (g & k) and many futile attempts to get the local smart dealer to assist (they absolutely wont), i came across ledbetter's mercedes reapair shop in tampa, fla. (813-626-4522). They fixed me right up programming two new keys to my car. Michael ledbetter was very helpful and of course has the full mercedes das system for the 450 model smart. If anyone is in need of keys (rfi module only as the metal part of the key is almost impossible to obtain), i would recommend giving michael a call. Sure beats going to canada or california to get it done.

Are you having trouble duplicating the metal key for the 450 ? I got several of them for my car when I wanted to cut one up and epoxy it onto a knob and leave it in the ignition. I separated the metal key from the RFI module. I now just carry the RFI on a beltclip.

If you want it, I'll find out the ID of the blank.

As can be seen, we are ALL very happy 1 solution has been found and can be done in the USA.

It's a shame that those who have the tools (other MB dealers) have refused to use them, I'm hoping this current economic down turn may help nudge the current MB dealers to rethink the Gray 450 owners.

For the MB GMs who may be reading these threads, realize, we G&K 450 owners paid much more for our cars (we paid close to your mid level car) and.

We STILL have resources available to us, so when your normal sources may dry up, remember we are still looking for a home
