Head Lights

Hey All

I have a question for the G&K people I can't seem to find the answer for.

Why did G&K change the head lamps for the original to what we have on our G&Ks. Being in my 50s I find ether these G&K lamps are too dim or it's my age.

Are the original lamps better than what G&K put on them and if so can the lamp adjuster be activated.

I have to do something so I can see better at night and I figured this is a good place to start.

Thanks for the input

ASM

ASM,

G&K changed the headlights because the origional European lights are not DOT approved. I wonder if your adjustment might need attention as the HID lights G&K installed are very bright. I have the European lights on one of my smarts and to me the G&K lights are brighter. Also the adjusters in the Euro lights are an internal part of the light and cannot be adopted to the HID lights.

Cheers, Dan

Dan

Thanks for the input, I saw when checking others gallery's of US cars some had the G&K and others had stock.

I can get a set from Ca in a bit, and I'll try to adjust (again) the G&K lights

Dan, your G&K has HIDs? Mine uses just a regular halogen bulb in a projector style assembly.

Mine has regular bulbs, too. The lens does look like a xenon HID lens, though.

hoov23,

so do the headlights on the 451 model ForTwos. I think that the look may have to do with the evolution of headlights (bulb to projector to xenon/HID)? Meaning projectors lead to xenon/HIDs and they basically assembly of projectors worked well.

At any rate, I believe the low beam bulbs on G&K converted 450s are an H9, 55W halogen bulb, correct?

Side note, my repair shop ordered me a passenger-side Euro/Canadian style headlight assembly. I am toying with the idea of hooking it up to see the G&K converted with the original (from the factory) setup side by side. Maybe I'll wait until the Nationals in KC.
