BeSmart - I see you listed Silverdale as one of your locations. That's funny cause I am in Poulsbo. Unfortunately I was not at the Aug 5 event however my plate sounds the same, "smartey". It is blue now however I have a set of phat red panels in the garage and am considering switching over a littel one.
24-42 - I don't remember Mr Machine but I do remember micromachines, hence my username. If anybody remembers they were the tiny versions of matchbox cars. Smartieparts is a great source for stuff. Steven is a great guy. I looked at the MDC cruise but found that ordering the OEM from smart-parts-direct plus Eddy adding the TAN was less expensive and did not require me getting into the electronics of the car. Also, I have read of a few cars having problems later after installing the MDC. I believe Eddy's fee was around $200. I had to give him the VIN so he could get the TAN and then I set up a time to drive up to his place to have it installed. Also, I believe that SmartsRUs has an exclusive relationship with MDC in the UK. Those in the UK have gotten around their pricing by ordering directly from MDC. Steven is the exclusive N. American distributor
I chose the Red Dot setup based on the recommendation from Mike at Smartarse Design. Whenever you start venturing up to 100bhp it is highly recommended to upgrade the brakes, suspension and switch to wider tires. Red Dot seemed to last longer than EBC brakes they found. I also have the Goodrich brake lines to install. Eddy did my suspension for me in a day at his shop. I have a set of 16" spikelines that I found on ebay from a guy in California. In addition I just came across a set of 17" lorinser speedies that I am going to try out. I may keep both sets or may sell one after I decide which set up I like better.
smartlyle - I won't even get into how much the car plus all the mods have set me back. It blew my mind the last time I figured it out and I am still going. I said I was done after I shelled out the cash for the recent remap, roadster turbo and new exhaust however I just came across the very rary hard luggage shelf that smart sold for a limited time and I couldn't resist. Who knows what will be next. I like to think of it as a hobby now rather than a car!
As mentioned at the top, I am located in Poulsbo, WA. If your in the area let me know. I always enjoy talking with fellow smart owners.
