Position lights not working.. please help. (450)

Problem - Position lights not working / speedo illumination fails (first click of stalk) All other lights / indicators work fine

Car - Smart 4/2 2002 Pulse

Tried so far...

Fuse's 1 and 2 (7.5amp) Checked and removed. 12volts put to each fuse, speedo lights come on and position lights come on. Fault must be before the fuse box. As its not getting any power.

Light stalk stripped and cleaned. Checked for problems. Also supplied 12v direct to the stalk connector and still nothing.

It seems the fault is in between the stalk and the fuse box. Is this a direct wire of does it go through a seperate relay for the position lights ?

any help appriciated.

The wiring is very complex on these cars. The fuze box on your car is simple compaired to the 2003 and up cars. I would try to find a friend that will loan you a known good switch and try it. The easy way is to hook up the car to the Mercedes DAS and it will tell you if you have the correct conections or bad wiring.
Have you check the voltage going to the switch with a light to see if any voltage is getting to it? If not pull down your fuze box and turn it over and look at the back of where fuze 1 and 2 is at. Look for a back connection there.
