SAM and I
Howdy All
Due to a VERY gracious gift from one of our (well known) "Friend/s" I now have a dead SAM.
Lots to be investigated, But this is the Brains of the Smart ] SAM - DSCN1433
That 1 chip decides if you are going to have a good day or a bad day
Here is the family, they decide how well things work (ABS, Traction control, windows. doors, etc.) SAM - DSCN1432
And ME with 3 computers running (the Palm can not be seen) trying to establish communication with this disposable stranger
Let the Hac game continue
ASM
OOHH this is ONLY for the 450, it is UNKNOWN if the 451 uses the same SAM unit

ASM, one of the more enigmatic posts so far - what are you trying to tell us?

Try Eddy at Flying Tigers in Candida, shop.flyingtiger.ca
But what problems are you having making you think you have a SAM problem?

How fried my Sam
How fried my Sam
Nobody knows
How fried my Sam...
Okay, it's grammatically incorrect, but so is, "To boldly go where no man has gone before."

Now you have me REAL curious , So you are saying the moment you go above 13 MPH you lose accessories or are you saying "Sometimes"?
Let me ask this question, is that the same speed where the auto door lock happens?
If you start your car and while idling you hit the door lock button on your dash do you lose accessories?
If the answer to the above questions are yes, then there is a problem in the SAM.
If you are going to buy a new 1, get a hold of me moments before you place the order, I may be able to give you a work around that if it works then you'll save the money and if it doesn't. well you were buying one anyways.
let me know

While reading about another problem, I read something you may want to check. check to see if there is a windshield leak allowing the SAM to get wet.
Just a thought

Pressing the lock button does not cause it to happen, now it seems to be getting worse moments after i start the car i hear a tick or two from under the dash ( the sam or near it ) and then all the power is gone.. i had to drive home last night with the flashers!

Hey, just for further clarification, you said you have a 2002 diesel that came from Ca.
Do you have the 599 CC motor or the 799 cc motor,1 would have a ZEE unit the other would have a SAM, but then again a 2002 should still be a gen 1 with the small motor and a ZEE unit (reason I am SSOO confused).
A SAM unit looks like this http://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php?page=modpage&id=174&men=electrical
And a ZEE unit looks like this http://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php?page=modpage&id=263&men=electrical
If you have a ZEE unit look at relay “E” this appears to be the relay that supplies the power to the items you are losing.
OOHH and for further research, could you give me an exact list of what you lose when this happens (I’m looking to see if they all have a common link/1 bad component).
Let me know
