im sorry i did not mean to type 2002 its a 2006 smart fortwo CDI
it has a sam unit ive seen it under the dash driver side, it is a canadian model,
so i can walk up, unlock the car with the remote, get in, start, all that works fine, after i start to back out or drive forward i start to hear clicking under the dash near the sam unit, its about 3-4 clicks i lose " windows, a/c, power mirrors, heated seats, cabrio top, turn signals, door locks, head lights, break hold, i also noticed that i loose the dummy lights in the dash, i can pull the hand break and i get no break light... so then when i come to a stop or below about 10-15mph i hear the clicking noise again for a moment then everything comes back on.. so as it stands my poor car is sitting parked till i can get this issue fixed..

Have you tried posting this on the club smartcar forums as well? I'd think the Canadian owners would have some idea on this one.

PS - would also recommend calling the service department at one of the Canadian dealers - maybe they could figure it out after you describe the symptoms to them.

OK now we may be getting somewhere (not where you want to be)

I have 1 more test I'd like you to do, while driving (slow and after it kicked out), pull your door handle (as though you were opening the door to get the auto door locks to unlock) and let me know if any thing changes

This is ALL SAM and the fact that a definite speed turns it on/off, I can't think of any other unit causing this.

I will research (if you want to go this route) a work around, this will include removing the SAM and YOU modifying a relay or 2. As I said, I only want to help moments before you place the SAM order, that way if it doesn't work you'll only be out the time it took to try the work around.

let me know

ASM

ps. if we go this route, I would rather E-Mail info back and forth (or maybe even chat on the phone) there are just some things I CAN'T post in a PUBLIC forum

also is there a relay bulit into the sam unit that controles the daytime running lights?
the lights have always turned on by them selfs about 10-15 sec after the car had started.. could that cause the power issue also?!
