Transmission oil

What type of transmission oil does an 04 For Two Passion take. I have one that even after the selector is moved to neutral, it remains in Reverse and can not be started untill the car is rocked back and forth. I believe another shop may have put the wrong oil in the transmission.
Thanks
Bob T

Sounds like it is probably not a oil issue, but a clutch disc release problem.

Hi there. If it's the six speed, it takes 80w90 gear oil. I made a point of asking when I bought mine because I dont want to change is every 5 months.

Better late than never

At this site http://www.fq101.co.uk/gearboxoil.asp they identify the replacement oil ( Google it to find its ratings)

This site gives more choices (at the bottom)http://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php...&men=servicing

2 things could be happening, clutch not disengaging http://www.fq101.co.uk/insideactuator.asp or it could be the gear selection motor http://www.fq101.co.uk/slowactuator.asp.

a little greater detail on the failure may help us in pointing you in the proper direction.

Hope it helps ASM

Trans takes Mobile1 Synthetic ATF.

Also lube the gear selector actuator.

you also need to check your brake lights are working cause engaging gears sometimes dont work without the brake pedal being used and the brake light switches are known to go defunkt !

And to add to that, the brake switch is a 2 part switch, 1 side does the lights, the other side does the electronics. Usually if it breaks, both sides go but it is possible for the electronic side to fail but the lighting side to still work.
