Mitspowered..

Sounds like you and I and a few others are motorhead enough to be the first to seriously "play" at modding and upgrading...

As we find sources and parts...especialy as you said above, alternate lower cost sources, we need to post the part numbers and the source

Several decades ago I learned to never tell the dealer parts guy I was looking for something for a 'vette motor .... the equivalent GM part for a Chevy car with same motor was priced much lower.... and I also learned to get parts from sources other then the oems... as long as I could find the specs for the parts like nuts n bolts....wink

Be careful: I've seen a lot of counterfeit grade fives and super-taniums in the local hardware store.

lhoboy good point and very true.... Many time even reputable stores are unaware of the source and quality....

There are some areas where this is no big deal, but there are lot of places you do not want an inferior part... especially the small diameter exhaust or connecting rod fasteners...

I have a local nuts and bolts guy who understands this and will let us do a stretch test on his fixtures if there is a concern--- grade 5 and grade eight counterfeits are easy to cull out....

Most of my racing work specs stainless for many exterior fasteners and they are tough to get in the correct strength for a good price...

The real point here is that MB/Smart is likely to be real proud of all their "stretch" fasteners... (single use Head bolts, axle retaining bolts etc..) I am not willing to pay $14~18 for one when in the real world the same part can be sourced for $2~3 each

But again, your point is well taken...

Fred,
I source my project fasteners at Grainger. Decent price in volume and I have never uncovered a fraud. Not cost effective sometimes when you are forced to buy some items in batches that will last you 3 life times. Let me know if you need any silicone padded radiator hose brackets.

Got a few extras eh? Har de har...welcome to my world... trade you a clamp or two for a couple of hundred resistors.....(ham radio)

Had to buy 500 surface mount resistors to get the 4 I needed.... fortunately they were relatively inexpensive.... grin... bet your clamps were not

Actually not too bad: $16 for 2 dozen. Aerodyne (the manufacturer of the turbo I installed on my Harley) wanted $22 for just one of the exact same thing. Now I got 23 left in the parts bin.

I'll let you know when I get ready to build some project boards. Some of those resistors may come in handy.

the mitsu motor in the video is no where near the smart motor. The only similarity is that they are made by the same company. how ever they both use the same type of vvt controls, so very important to keep fac. oil spes. The 451 motor only has vvt on the intake valves only.

Can you install a "log turbo manifold" and increase the fuel presure(fmu)? Maybe add a 4th injector if its running lean? Would a t25 be small enough?
I'm expecting 1600lbs and 100hp after i'm done.
A don't see why we don't have parts yet. Its been out for a year in Europe. Geez!

I might be ordering the turbo manifold, intercooler w/piping and possibly the turbo ... (UK)

I was thinking of order the Brabus parts right from a smart UK dealer .....

I'm looking for 100-110 hp ....

I wonder if we would be able to "re-flash" the ecu's just like the Evo's and WRX's ????

I know that bigperformance -Ian- will accept your ECU in the mail... put it in thier Mule and re-mapp the PROM... then mail it back (google them)

Currently there are no modders this side of the pond with the flash tool or re-map software

They will come.... trust me they will come!
