Any discount on NEW Fortwo Cab at Dealer?

Hello everyone! Wife and I just configured our Fortwo after receiving Smart's email notifying us to spec it out. Dealer stated it should arrive here in the DFW area around Mar-April.

I've bought around 17 cars in the last 11 years or so and never once paid sticker. From American trucks, SUVs, and several European cars and none at sticker. Would like to know how much is the average dealers can negotiate off of the MSRP.

Thanks in advance and can't wait til it gets here!

Not a chance paying below sticker on a new smart

Howdy
Working at a dealership I can safely state.
You have NO CHANCE of paying below sticker for a new smart.
(If you don't take it, someone else will gladly pick it up as an orphan)

You MIGHT be able to talk the manager into throwing in some accessories to sweeten the deal, but even that is IFFY at best?

I wouldnt count on any accessories or gifts thrown in either. I tried to get one of the model cars or a smart hat thrown in with the deal but no go. Said there is such a small mark-up on them the dealer cant really play ball witht he price. I was also buying outside of my area so they lost out on 2% of their profit. Plan on paying sticker price

My view is it's worth a shot to try for below MSRP - not on a reserved car but on an orphan. Depending on the dealer, orphans seem to be stacking up and the demand right now is low. Dealer pays finance costs as long as the cars sit on the lot - seems like it would be worth dealing to move the cars. Not saying they see it that way but can't hurt to try.

the warwick RI dealer is offering a slight discount on orphaned 2008 models. 09's are full price, 09 orphans are at a premium.

The Minneapolis dealer is offering a sale on all new 09's. They are the price of the 08's. So there is a few hundred saved.

See if they have any cars with 08' pricing left.. you'll save 400$ right there.

If you really don't want to pay sticker, see if they have any demo cars available. Even then, your not going to save much.

Since the dealers can sell trade ins and orphans for more that MSRP you will have a fun time trying to get a discount. But don't worry if you get up and walk out on the deal to try to get them to rethink the price they have a line of people who will sit in your place and pay extra for a few bits of bling added five minutes after you leave.
